This is not really for complete idiots, if it was it would have a lot more detail on how to actually ride, practice, and develop good technique. It covers the basics of riding only. This book is more of a wide covering of all aspects of motorcycles.
When I bought this I had never ridden a bike before and it did a good job of introducing me to the motorcycle, culture and lifestyle. It was however not much help in how to ride. Maybe this book should be subtitled - "A Basic, introductory ... Read More

An excellent book well written with plenty of good advice. However at least 40% of the book is specific to the U.S. and all assumes driving on the right, add to that the fact that UK cycle law is differant and frankly the only real use to the UK reader is to give an insight into US biker thinking. plus good history sections.

For example the author refered to a kickstarter being on the left side of a motorcycle, then on the right. In several chapters I felt that the important subjects were glanced over in a paragraph ... It's hard to find information on how to ride properly. This book explains it all... How to ride, riding gear, how to choose the right bike for you, maintenance, and a bunch of other things I found very useful. This book is a bible of MC riding.
