Remar sutton is obviously the most knowledgeable man in the business when it comes to the inner workings of your friendly neighborhood car dealership. His advice will save you a ton of money! I found the book to be both entertaining in its' presentation and chilling in its' content. Life inside the auto dealership is described in vivid detail in this classic book, as we follow ace car salesman Killer De Marco and friends. Killer's adventures are brilliant entertainment, and the book is a superb read because of it. Unfortunately, the updates have a "tacked on" feeling; the information on leasing in particular is sadly lacking in detail. I rarely give 5 stars to anything, but for the impact this book has had for me -- at least the financial impact, anyway -- I would definitely award it. Mr. Sutton understands the honorable art of negotiation... and that there's nothing dishonorable about arming your side of car-buying with knowledge about how the other side operates. That took much of the "fear" out of buying a car for me and let me know how to proceed to get deals that I haven't yet regretted.

Remar Sutton makes no attempt to hide his consumer inclinations in this work, at some points admitting his close friendship with associate, Ralph Nader. While, I don't necessarily consider this fact a plus, Mr. Sutton's book is definitely worth reading if you are in the market for a new or used car *if* you plan on reading other books on car buying as well. Mr. Sutton's work reads like a seedy public service message that does a good job to villify the auto industry to almost larger-than-life proportions. ... Read More

I feel I got taken when I bought this book.Expecting some timely information about a major purchase I was quite surprised at what I found. In fact this is a book that was first published in 1982! This was before Saturn,Auto Nation,Car Max et al. which, despite touting revisions such as an internet buying section, renders the majority of the the fictional accounts of "inside the dealer" information irrelavent.Before you call me naive let me say I have purchased 8 cars in my lifetime so I am not a neophyte ...
